Man claims Marijuana was actually bananas

A Dubai tourist who was caught at Dubai Airport with a large amount of marijuana in his luggage claimed it was really a packet of bananas.

It was not.

The man claims he was given the bag and had been told they were bananas. He then had to deliver those ‘bananas’ to a person in the UAE. In exchange, he would pay his travel expenses and find him work in the country.

Sadly for the African national who arrived here last November, the bag did not contain bananas but instead a large quantity of marijuana. The police scanned his luggage at Terminal 3 and found ‘a suspicious density in the bags.’

He’s now been sentenced to 10 years in prison and given a fine of AED 50,000.
