The airport boasted a seating capacity of 4.73 million, surpassing Atlanta's 4.48 million and marking its position at the forefront of global air traffic. This achievement is particularly notable given that Dubai International primarily serves international passengers, with minimal domestic traffic, underscoring Dubai's successful efforts to attract tourists while ensuring safety.
The ranking, provided by the global travel data authority OAG, places Tokyo Haneda, Guangzhou, Shanghai Pudong, and London Heathrow next in line, highlighting the international appeal and operational capacity of these global hubs. Notably, Dubai International's international traffic alone (4.73 million) significantly exceeded that of its closest competitor, London Heathrow (3.63 million), emphasizing its pivotal role in international air travel.
