Dubai ahead of London, Paris, New York in quality of life report
Gulf city ranked number 18 out of 50 on global index by Deutsche Bank.
Dubai has higher quality of life when compared to cities such as London, Paris and New York, according to a report by Deutsche Bank.
The city ranked number 18 in the quality of life index, which graded 50 global cities on eight measurements including quality of healthcare, cost of consumer goods and housing affordability, which was measured by the ratio of property price to income.
Other factors considered include safety, climate and traffic. Each city’s cost of living was also calculated using prices for consumer goods, groceries and rent.
Dubai’s cost of living was 22 compared to London’s 40, Paris’ 42 and New York’s 47.
Its property to income ratio was also much lower at 3, compared to London’s 42, Paris’ 38 and New York’s 27. The cities came in at numbers 33, 32 and 31 respectively, receiving some of the lowest quality of life ranks on the list.
Cities with the best quality of life were Wellington, New Zealand, Zurich, Switzerland, Copenhagen, Denmark, Edinburgh, UK and Vienna, Austria.
Following suit was Helsinki, Finland, Melbourne, Australia, Sydney, Australia, Frankfurt, Germany and Amsterdam, Netherlands at number 10.
